Science Skills/Theory so far...

So far this year we have learnt to:

1.    Describe the structure of an atom.
2.    Define the term element.
3.    Name and write the correct symbols for a selection of elements.
4.    Understand how the elements are grouped to form the periodic table.

5.    Investigate some physical properties of metals and non-metals.

In your inquiry you need to consider a science aspect of your context. This should be discussed with Mr Groot.

TASK 1: PROBLEM

Create a question for your statistical investigation.

Think of it as a SMART GOAL.

  • It must have two variables (things you are investigating)
  • It must be measurable
  • It must be something you can realistically collect information on

TASK 2: PLAN
  • How can you find this information?
  • Who is your target group? ( year level, school, community)
  • How will you collect a big enough sample? (at least 30 pieces of data)
  • How will you collect the data? (google form, experiment etc)
  • How will you record the data? (Table, chart, spreadsheet etc)
Create your questions, experiment, and target group you plan to  ask.
Draw up a table and chart for your results.

You need to submit this part of your PPDAC to the google classroom, then you may start collecting your data.
